Lower unit drain hole

This coming Sat I plan on splashing the ole' girl for the first time since complete rebuilt of the inside of the hull. While running on the muffs I noticed a large stream of water coming from the drain hole at the bottom stb side of the lower unit. Obviously more than just a little drain water. I have been running the engine in a large bucket with a water hose clamped to the bucket so I never noticed the stream of water coming out of the drain before yesterday when I just ran it on the muffs. The question, is this normal or should there be more investigation before the splash?

if so, that's good imho. that means that the empty cavity in ft. of the shift shaft is empty and not filled with crud like the last two i've owned. i cleaned that cavity out and the water now comes out that pee hole like it's supposed to do. i think good to go from your description. mines a mc-1 drive. your alpha1 should be similar i think.
