Help on washers that go on top of lower unit shift shaft. On removing the lower unit, there were no washers other than the seal and washer on top of the seal. There looks to be another rubber washer and (in the forum a stainless?) washer on top of that. The washer shown in the parts breakdown (I believe item #50) looks to be a fiber washer. A fiber washer did come in the seals kit, but I have to believe that the rubber washer with the fiber washer would disappear very quickly.
Question: Is the top washer stainless? There are two rubber washers that are the same inside dia. that came with the kit and fit the top of the shift shaft perfectly. The one is very thin. The other is about 1/4" thick and would more likely use the space I need for the shift shoe to engage the stirrup. Is this a correct assumption?
Ya know, there are no stupid questions, only stupid people that ask questions....
