Lower Oil Seal.-

If wanting to remove a 18 HP lower oil seal (X) it's just a matter of destroying it while pulling it out the crank case with whatever tool needs to be pulled with ?​

When finally is removed is it possible to install a well lubed new one in to slide in better while tapping it gently with a rubber mallet or Nope need to open the crank case yes or yes ? Need straight answers, no wild guessings on this one...LOL!!​

Thanks both, but the original tech inquiry was : how to remove the big lower oil seal without tearing the motor apart ? Recomendations, something that works for you ? Not an issue if in need to tear it apart in pieces as it's just hard rubber...

If you want to pull the seal in situ, you will have to destroy it. Then tap in the new one.

You wouldn't HAVE to destroy the seal to remove it, but destroying it clearly makes more sense than splitting the case to release it without destroying.... ;>)

Not an issue destroying a lower oil seal with hundreds of clocked run hours compared to the upper oil seal removal which is piece of cake with whipped cream on top...
