Lower crank seal 25 merc

I pulled the power head off my 1997 merc 25 and found the lower crank seal cocked in the bore and what I believe is backwards as well. i haven't worked on outboards much, but every seal I've ever put in has the lip and the little spring on the inside. I'll include a pic and hope for some educated feedback. TIA Cheers, Dave

Same question about the crankcase seal under the flywheel. It is installed the opposite of the pic I sent.
