Re: Looking to become a Q6 owner in the off season

I have seen cracks in the gel coat before. You can fix them and there are many threads in the forum regarding this. Some people leave them and don't fix them unless they get worse.

In regards to the discoloration on the inside of the sundeck/engine cover. First: Take the sundeck/engine cover off of the boat. Second use some soap and water and try cleaning it. I have used dish soap and it worked on my other boat. Simple Green brand also worked. If that does not work try a mild bleach solution but wash it off as soon as you see the discoloration fading.

Now, the yellow coloring on the seat will probably fade from being in the sun. In my other boat I tried many things to remove coloring from the interior only to make it worse. I would remove the seat and set it in the sun.

The hinge can be fixed. I would see how bad the holes are "rounded out" and see if some epoxy would work in there first. Maybe someone else has a better idea.

Thanks everyone for the help.

Is bottom of the sun deck wood or fiberglass? He keeps it stored in a storage shed, I'm thinking he closed it up all wet.

Well after going back and forth this horribly cold off season. (Come on warm weather) Looks like I have it all narrowed it down.

If all goes well I will be bring home a 2005 Q8i 5.0 Carb in a couple weekends.

Is there any Tahoe Q8i users out there? I'm curious if this trailer tongue can be modified with swing away? Length will work, but will have to move some shelves so not really a huge issue, just would be really nice not to move them. The guy said the height from ground to the top of the window is 84" with the dolly down about half way. I have to do a little modification and I can get 85" which scares me a little. I will measure to verify the height when I drive the 8 hours to pickup it up.
