Re: Looking for other Glassmaster boat owners..

Hi!

I just spent (1) Year resorting my 1988 16' Glassmaster S -179. Why? I got it free and I love the lines! Anyway, I tried to post a photo thread of my restore, but every time I wanted to post a picture it told me the photo was too large :-(
I want to find other Glassmaster Owners as well! I would be willing to make a website devoted to these niche boats.

Re: Looking for other Glassmaster boat owners..

I have a 1989 S187 Glassmaster cuddy
Looked everywhere on the web and cannot find much for info such as model name other than S187
I am going to be doing some work to it and that will wind up in the restoration section but the extent is such work
is yet to be determined.

Seems to be kind of rare as there are not many pictures on the web for at 18 ft and powered by a 3l merc it moves not to bad as well
however as I get into it and read here I have a feeling that I will have more than I thought I may have to do.

The fishing / radar arch has been just added and supported from inside hulls cap section along with a meranti plate on top of the gunwales and extruded aluminum track on top of that for mounting fishing gear etc.

The second photo is not my boat but a photo of another boat exactly like it in europe. I have not found many pictures actually of this particular model.

I would love to be able to find out more about this boat, construction techniques used, specs etc.

Hello there! It's been a while since anyone has posted to this thread, but my husband and I brought one home today. Trying to find more info on it...It was given to us by a friend. His father passed away last spring, and it has sat since '09, as far as we can tell. Waiting on title, but serial number is 68100XESD. It is an 18' 165HP Mercruiser IO. Hoping to get her on the water soon!

1973 Glassmaster Tarpon inboard/outboard. Been in the family since purchased. Some things are finally starting to give way after 47 years of use. Anyone else have an inboard/outboard? I'm having some steering cable changeout issues!

Thanks.

Re: Looking for other Glassmaster boat owners..

Here are some pictures of mine. I bought it in 1996 with a mercury motor that didn't work, and trailer, for $600. I don't know the exact year, mid sixties is my guess as I saw a io model that looked similar on the web. It came with a wrap around plexiglass windscreen which I took off and replaced with one that I constructed. It was originally painted blue and white. I repainted it white, and changed the top from blue to green. I added a board with storage and fishing pole holders across the motor well. The motor I replaced with a new 1996 Yamaha 50 horse four stroke. It is about 17 ft overall.

My family ran Glassmaster for years. My dad was V.P. and General Manager of the marine division, my uncle was President, and my other uncle was Chairman of the Board of Directors. Those boats were built by hand in Lexington, South Carolina. Very well made boats!
