Looking for an alternative for the aluminum transom cap

I cut the Transum on my aluminum fishing boat and now the Transum cap is no longer usable. Instead of making a new one out of aluminum I would like to use some kind of rubber stripping but I can't find anything that would work. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks

I wrestled with the same thing for a month, including trips to more than a couple hardware/home improvement stores, before realizing it was easier to have a fab shop make a new one out of aluminum. I paid about $75 but it sure does look nice, better than any other option I pondered.

get the right transom cap material

look for aluminum channel from either speedymetals or mcmaster carr

Why would you cut the transom on an aluminum boat?

I cut the Transum because i had the boat that requires a long shaft, but when a relative passed away I received an almost new Honda 20 hp short shaft. I figured instead of getting a different boat I'd just cut the Transum.
