The wires are sort of frayed that lead to my shift solenoid in my lower unit. Could be the cause my motor starting in reverse. If anyone has any hydroelectric shift motor kicking around lmk.
The motor is in FORWARD when it starts to crank.----With 12 volts on Green it goes to neutral after just 1 rotation of the flywheel.------When you select reverse there should be 12 volts on both green and blue .----Here it would be an easy fix.
I'm aware of that. However, it starts in reverse, when throttle in neutral position. I've checked the voltages at the knife connectors. And those check out. Therefore, the issue must be in the lower unit.
I would have to look inside to see what is jammed !------But do some simple testing.---Remove the sparkplugs.------Find the GREEN and BLUE wires that go to the lower unit and disconnect them.-----Put a 1-5/16" socket on the flywheel nut.-----Turn the flywheel.----Is the gearcase in forward , yes or no ?-----Now put 12 volts to green and turn the flywheel.----Does it go into neutral after 1 turn or so , yes or no ?
