been doing lots of storm damaged boats lately.

a boat company that i am subcontracting to is buying up what some might call "cane" boats.

mostly re-keel jobs....but some major top damage as well....i did an 04 sea-doo that was caught UNDER a dock in a storm, many parts of that fiberglass hull just wern't there any more.
i had to basically re build from scratch the shape then gellcoat it and fair that one till it looked new.

currently i am re-keeling a 07 bayliner that sunk in a storm and the waves dragged across the rocky bottom till most of the gellcoat was gone and the wholes in the keel and strakes are as big as your fist.

the bayliner was supposed to take 3 weeks to finish....but they just acquired an 07 bluewater

the bluewater is comming in on monday or tuesday....so the bayliner needs to be out by the weekend, so the blue water can come in monday ish.

im really looking forward to working on this one cause its such a nice boat.

this boat was a victim of hitting something...
i have no idea what it was....but....it was hit sudden ...and fast !

let me tell ya.. volvo drives are tough !

the drive seems to be seperated from the transom

thats the easy part.......this is a little tougher

here you can see the holes in the hull

time line for me to repair this boat and have it ready to sell is 3 weeks
i hope i can get it done in time for the next one to come in because the cure times on the gellcoat are way down due to the cold snap of -20 we are currently in.

i posted all of this to let YOU know....that it does not matter how bad you think your boat is damaged...if it is a fiber glass boat....YOU can fix it like it was brand new.

cheers

The damage doesn't look that bad. It might just buff out or at the very least hit it with a wet rag :)

Ogopogo strike?

I want to see more pics of work on seadoo, since it might ease up few steps for my project.

Hows' the transom? You going to have to pull the outdrive? Looks like they hit a rock pile to me........ or a reef?

We have a notorious sand bar here in the river. Saw a nice Ski boat sling mud for what looked like 30 feet when they hit. We idled over, luckily nobody was hurt.

Be careful out there folks.

the seadoo was the first project for this client. he has stated that he would rather i didnt post pics of the work in progress in case a potential buyer saw the damage and said "fixed or not.....NO WAY"

and pro.....i think it will be the same with this one.

i am hoping that i could sneak this post past.....but if i get sneaky enough ......hmmmmm

and drewp....

i think i might have to pull the motor/drive/transom brackets.

i wont know till get to crawl around in there. but when i gave him the ballpark quote for fixing this boat.....there was an add x amount for re doing the transom.

Just thinkin ahead for stuff I would like to do for the ol sundancer.
If we ever get around to do the Arrow lakes it would be nice to have EFI for the "little" extra's ;)
Still trying to find a decent priced USED 3-4 kw marine genny as well.
