i have a 1973 sea ray srv190 with
888 drive and ford 302 v8
i have never had it running and after
doing some work i am trying to start it.
i think my old battery is bad.
with load tester it reads 10 volts
i read on web that should crank engine
over when testing , is this right.
i am going to replace battery as
soon as i can since its over 7 years old

Re: load testing battery

I think she's shot. I just changed the battery in my new to me boat... the previous owner didn't pick out the date codes so i didn't know how old it was. I did use a core that i had around the house... it was a 14 year old battery... and i kept the original boat one. But get you a new one. Look aroud, sometimes people have deals on them. I waited until they were on sale at Advance Auto and i had a coupon. Gotta save where you can... that way i can buy more beer :)

Re: load testing battery

No cranking that is the purpose of the "Load" tester. It has a built in load to simulate cranking.

Re: load testing battery

At 7 years old I wouldn't even take the time to charge or test. It's only a core now.
