While my bat is apart for a floor/stringer replacement, I want to add a deck/ski locker. Looking for pics/ideas for what others have for lids/compartments. My uncle said he had a bass boat where the lid was supposed to be water tight and wasn't, so over time the moisture and sun made it like a sauna inside and it rotted out quick. I was thinking teek or something for the lid that would let air in to keep things dry, as well as adding slots/drain holes to the bottom to drain liquid to the bilge. I was just going to cover it with carpet so it would be almost invisible when closed, but now I'm leary of trapping moisture.

My ski locker is more than adequate, lots of room for skis, tubes, and even houses a cooler sometimes, it extends all the way to the bow and drains into the bilge, as you can see it's carpeted and I wouldn't want it any other way, there is a powerful spring that holds it close, but I prop it open with that piece of pvc pipe that you see, i've never had a mold issue and it's been wet lots of times but i trailer the boat and keep the door propped open.

my boats a little unique. my ski locker is my stringers. it runs from just in ft. of the engine all the way to the ft. of the seats. the last little distance up to my enclosed bow is a ice chest. these two compartments are seperated.
the lid on my ski/fish :)rolleyes:) locker just sets on top of the glass. it's just a painted board w/carpet glued to it. it's original to my boat so some 35 years old. it fits loose, no seal and i've had no issue with dampness inside. it does get wet too. but there is a drain from in the bow all the way to the back to the bilge. my boat has what AristoCraft calls a inner liner. the ski/fish locker is integral to this inner liner.
no idea if ya could incorporate the idea into a traditional built boat but thought i'd though it out there.

you can store stuff between the seats but it better be long as there is no access between the seats. ...

These are great, thanks! I guess I should be more specific. I have a 1980 Imperial Tri-hull, 17 footer. I figure I can get a good 7 feet of storage out of it from in front of the rear seats, to where the bow starts to slope up.

Re: Let's see you deck/ski locker!

go for it. looks like ya could use some storage.
mine don't have that much storage either so the in floor ski/fish locker gets lots of use... being nice and long

i have

1 1/2 paddles
a boat hook
2 small pwc suction cup fenders
a folding table, small
2 folding chairs
2 pair rubber sandals for me and the gf
couple of spare lines
my cooler contains my tool box, pretty large first aid kit, spare parts, and binos..

it's great to have that stuff on board and have it be out of sight, out of mind...

great looking imperial btw....

Thanks ziggy, I really could use that space. I'm thinking of putting 2 access doors in as well. If I get the full 6-7 feet out of it, I want a way to get things out of the ends if something slides way up there :D

The boat has new paint/interior on it, which was a selling point to the guy I got it from. It was nothing more then a selling tactic by the original owner however, since the thing had 2 bad cylinders (must have been overheating and the way that problem was solved was to disconnect the buzzer), and the floor/stringers are shot

I did get to outfit it with an 85 horse powerhead though, and go up 10 ponies :D

Re: Let's see you deck/ski locker!

Well I got my new stringers in today finally. I did some measuring though, and if I put the new floor back in at the same height as the old one, by the time I lay plywood over the middle stringer, I will only have a storage locker about 4 1/4 inches deep............. Not sure if it's worth it. If I didn't lay plywood for a base, I'd have about a foot at its deepest, but there would be the center stringer down the middle, and it would slope toward the middle pretty good.

Suggestions?
