Now Congress is going to get involved in the BCS debate? Wow. Story here.

Why cant college football have a playoff system like everyone else? The polls are joke.

Last year for example, Oklahoma lost the Big 12 championship game, but played for the national championship. Meanwhile Auburn and Utah couldnt compete for the title.

Your congressman is making waves only because he has a dog in the fight... for once.

The system is fine. Let these schools start playing somebody other than "Little Sisters of The Poor" and their BCS ratings will increase... provided they win.

Even if a playoff was started, there would always be those whiners left on the outside because they were not a part.

Actually KaGee, he is an A&M grad. Aggies and UT dont exactly have any love lost for each other. If he were doing it for that reason, he would have trotted this out last year when Mack Brown was basically begging to be in a BCS bowl.

Don't they have anything better to do than meddle with the NCAA?

You'll never stop the whining by schools and fans. Even when they qualify 64 teams in the bball tourney, you get lots of whining from the 65th best team that was sure they were at least the 63rd best.

I like the bowl set-up. It gives lots of teams, and fans, somewhere to go and something to look forward to even if they have no realistic chance of the nat'l title---and, of course, it brings in lots of money to fund all those other sports that are not necessarily revenue producers.

Don't fix it if it ain't broke.

Had to click the link to find out what a BCS was....
I stopped following the games after one too many bogus calls, or one too many "fumbled receptions".

I guess it is a hazard of any popular sport.
F'rinstance: When are they going to levy penalties to NASCAR drivers who drive dirty?
My anwser would be never. Too much money to be made over increased attention to the race out of "fan rage".
Not making this about NASCAR, but including it and any other popular sport, that are all subject to the same phenomenon.
