well, almost four year old thread. Been an interesting four years:
got laid off
on my second job since then, pulling in a whopping $14/hr
added a 600 sq ft sunroom
new dishwasher (high end Bosch)
just this week two new HVAC units plus some joe designed custom return vents (tricky stuff)
sold the truck, got a VW station wagon (TDI)
one of the boys almost died in a wreck
got some puppies
new floors
granite countertops
quit smoking
sold two boats (trying on the Carver)
prob a bunch of stuff I don't remember.
We have since repainted the kitchen. When we added the sunroom, while we still have decent light, the reduction added to the dark brown cabinets was too much so we went white uppers and a light blue/grey lowers.
The new dishwasher is waiting on my cabinet guy to make me a panel.
we had three diff floor coverings to see when you walked into the front door, now one - and eliminated three thresholds
from front door
Did have a scare. Over the 13 years we've been there both the dishwasher and the fridge have had a leak. No biggie just a bit of slow leak which of course I repaired. I also do at least a once per year tour under the house looking for termites and water damage. nothing, all good.
well - apparently near as we can figure is that the builder lived on vinyl sheet goods until right before he sold us the house - which explains why the house look mostly brand new. So ripping up the floor and the underlayment exposed this:
I was scared sh.tless. Good news is that it was all on top on the sheet goods, not soaked into the subfloor. A couple hours of bleach and old fashioned oil based Kilz and we are good. Bonus - me and the wife are not as snotty as we used to be every morning. I guess we now know why.
