Working on 1979 mercury 20. I have put two switches on this thing and the wire fron stator thats supposed to ground it out and shut the motor off wont. I have it wired up correctly, but it just wont work.This is an old motor and I just got it running last weekend. I took the boat out and didn't rev up like it should, so I adjusted some stuff and then it would rev up but surge and die. I have since got a manual and adjusted everything and does better in a drum of water, but I am just concerned with the not killing issue for now. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
