I'm considering getting a slip for the boat on the Delaware for the summer, bur I don't want my nice clean hull & outdrive getting all brown and gross. I know there is anti-fouling paint, but that looks kind of ugly too. Is there any way to keep a boat in a slip but not have it get gross?

I'm looking at areas north of Philly, so it should be all fresh water (right?).

Boat lift or take it out for a powerwash every now and again.

Hi, Im keeping a boat little farther south on the delaware (port norris). If you use the boat alot you will get minimal buildup. My area I have no choice to use a bottom paint. They do have paints that are a hard finish the would look ok on a boat. They also have different colors. If you got a black hard finish bottom paint and paint right up to the boot tape, it won't detract from the looks.

There is soft type paints that actually wear off as you run the boat, they are good if you don't use the boat much, and a few runs the bottom is clean.

Also its good practice to keep the outboard tilted when not using it, growth forms inside the lower unit and can clog the water pump pickup, a stern drive might not tilt up enough, so those really should be painted.

Unless you religiously haul and clean it weekly, there's only ONE WAY- a lift.
Otherwise, go with bottom paint and a wide bootstripe.

Yup. Well, not counting any toxic chemicals coming down from Trenton.....:D
