Nothing but a wreckfest so far. Averaging a caution every 25 laps. Too bad Shrubby caught Logano in his. Maybe. :)

Odd race. Different strategies, cautions. The 20 has definitely been the car, but the 17 was really good until that caution for the 2.

Kenseth had a strong car. Burton, another meh..... Shrubby, ahhhhhhhhh............. Danica, seems to be right around a 20th placer this year....... I haven't looked at her average finish, I'm sure it's not that bad.......

Re: Kansas NASCAR

Kenseth got hit pretty hard for having a connecting rod that was too light. 50 points and the crew chief is out for 6 weeks and was hit with a $200,000 fine. No owner points for the 6 weeks. That hurts JGR!

Those rods must have been way lighter and/or wrong material to draw that kind of penalty.

Re: Kansas NASCAR

I want to know how 1 rod, 3 grams light is anything but bad. Certainly didn't help. I understand a heavy hand too, but the suspension is ridiculous. This is TRD's fault. I understand the points and fine, TEAM is ultimately responsible, but how does a suspension for six races prove anything? Teach anything? TRD can pay the fine, they can compensate Gibbs for point losses, but why does the guy need to stay home? Unless he disassembled and personally weighed each Rod and then put it back together, how could he know?

Does JGR build their engines? Is there a Toyota builder? I know Hendrick supplies engines to other Chevy teams like Stewart-Haas. Wonder if internals get checked before plugging them in?

Toyota Racing Development (TRD) builds all the Toyota NASCAR engines.

They're the ones that should be taking the hit on this. I'm sure they are an approved nascar supplier, if that means anything.

Re: Kansas NASCAR

Oh, they ultimately will. I am sure that Gibbs has recourse, but NASCAR holds the crew chief responsible for everything. That way you can't point fingers. Not NASCAR's problem. But suspension IMHO is wrong. They know he didn't do it. TRD can pay his fine, TRD can pay Gibbs for trouble etc. But they can't put the Crew Chief back at the track.

They may build them, but that doesn't mean a team can't take them apart and change things. If TRD did it, I would suspect the problem on all the TRD engines, not just the one in the 20 car.

One con rod 3 grams light? Why would anybody do that on purpose?

Sounds like trying to get away with something, cheating, is the new face of NASCAR.... Seems to be a lot if it going on this year. And, we haven't used cheating and Knaus in the same sentence, yet..........

But still, only 1 rod? I guess if your going to cheat, all the rods will be lighter. What gain is there with only one
? I can't see any........... It really does look like an oversight.....

As far as the crew chief getting booted for 6, he's ultimately responsible. But, I wonder in this case if it should have been the car chief that should have been suspended? I think NASCAR is taking a zero tolerance stance......

Gibbs is appealing the decision..... Maybe someone at TRD should go down the road......

This hurts:
Kenseth stood eighth in the Sprint Cup standings following his victory at Kansas, but the loss of 50 points would drop him to 14th. His Kansas win will also not be credited toward Chase Wild Card eligibility.

I actually agree with the Zero tolerance part. I just don't think anyone should be suspended. Fine 'em a million $, I don't care. Fire the TRD guy, but the crew chief should not be suspended when it is obvious he didn't do anything. Common sense should still rule.

Re: Kansas NASCAR

If it was done on purpose I would expect all the rods to be 3 grams light. It could have happened during balancing but I would hope TRD had better QC, QC.
