My family just purchased our first boat. The MN license says it is a 1969 16'0" Naden. I can find no ID tag or stamped numbers on it anywhere. It needs a complete restoration, small crack at rivets in bottom of hull, few leeky rivets, much mouse damage to seats and styrofoam. We have stripped everything off that we can without removing rivets and can find no sign of a hull ID. The boat measures 15'4" long and 6'2" at the widest part. The couple that we purchased it from, I don't think ever had it in the water. They said they did but I doubt it. They purchased it somewhere in the twin cities a few years ago. They transfered the registration of the trailer in July 2007 and the boat license for MN expired in December 2007. We are triing to find out the model of the Naden and if this is the right year. The Johnson V4 60 is a 1967 model if I understand the VIN deciphering correctly. Any help will be much appricated. We are hoping to put it in the lake before summer ends. Thank You from the middle of Minnesota!

Re: Just purchased a Naden

Doing the final sanding before rivet and paint and found a 6 digit number stamped on inside of transom aluminum trim 289314. Also on the bottom side of enclosed bow top sheet is written is marker 59 15W , could this be a model # and , or year maybe ??? Do these numbers mean anything to anyone?

Re: Just purchased a Naden

Welcome to iboats.

Unless you can find a Naden expert...... you are out of luck. The USCG did not require special Hull Identification Numbers until the early 1970's so your serial number means nothing. You are limited to the registration and bill of sale.

Your main concern should be your registration of the boat and since this is your first boat.........take the online version of the Boater Safety Course - in person is better if you can find one available in your area.
