Re: Final adjustments
Re: Final adjustments
Thanks SeaRider for clarifying everything and answer all my questions!
At this point the timing has been checked many times and i am 100 percent sure its set at 25 degree's, At first i was a bit unsure of where to check in reference to the mating surface but now i understand! so all along i guess my motor did come with 25 degree timing and max cam positioning on carb throttle. I only had to change gasket ($8)
I think I have got the motor riding at the perfect height in the water.. Motor has amazing hole shot, no prop ventilation at all, handles good, motor gets good water for cooling and gives the best speed! I'm actually thinking of using a big piece of aluminum instead of a wood shim but not to sure yet, I will have to see if i have a piece of aluminum at my work. The shim's on the back of the boat that trim the motor to 90 degree's are going to be made out of wood and painted black like the motor!
about the clamps, I am planning on hooking them together with rope like you said. The one on the left side has a motor lock on it which makes it impossible to face the hooks towards each other but a rope should be fine, I check the clamps everyday anyways to make sure they have not come loose . I'm sure glad the transom cap is there as it kinda stops the motor from coming off the top and still has a couple mm's of room between the bottom and the clamps so i will not need to use a dremel on it! I was thinking the same thing and that's what I do I just throttle back so the rpm's are to high when i'm by myself with occasional burst of wot just for some excitement!
Thanks
Nathan
