jonhson 9.9 not charging

I have a 1991 9.9 My boy hooked the batt. up backwards for about 10 sec. it stoped charging. any one know what up??

You probably fried the rectifier. You can get the same result by disconnecting Battery lead when the motor is running.

Sometimes yes, sometimes no.
