The flywheel key must be installed so that the outer straight edge is perfectly vertical, NOT aligned with the crankshaft taper. The flywheel nut must be torqued to factory specifications, otherwise it will definitely shear. I believe the torque is 105 foot pounds on that model. Check the manual.<br /><br />The engine must be turning at least 300 rpm in order for the self contained ignition to be energized. If the engine is cranking slow (as with a discharged low battery) the ignition/spark will be either weak or non existent.<br /><br />Spark must be checked with the spark plugs removed, and with a spark tester with its gap set to 7/16". The spark at cranking speed should jump that 7/16" gap with a strong blue lightning like flame.... a real SNAP!<br /><br />Compression should be approximately 100+ psi and even on all cylinders.<br /><br />From what I've read above, you are speaking in generalities ie spark is good, etc. That really tells us nothing. Take the time to describe exactly what the spark looks like, what gap you're using, what compression are you reading on each cylinder, etc.<br /><br />If the engine has compression, spark, and fuel, and the flywheel key isn't sheared, there is nothing to keep the engine from running. If you have compression and spark as I've entered above, I'd strongly suspect that you overlooked something within the carburetors, possible you did not remove and manually clean the jets (all of them) with a single strand piece of steel mechanics wire?
