This is my first rebuild (82' J 25hp). I completely disassembled the power head and cleaned it thoroughly. All mechanical parts are in check, replacement parts are on the way, and I have a couple questions..

1) What is a good gasket sealer to use? In addition, there is no gasket between that crankcase and block. Will the gasket sealer also work for this application?

2) What is a good primer and paint to purchase? Must be in an aerosol can..

Thanks

Re: Johnson Restoration Project

1) Permatex makes a good gasket sealer
2) Depends on use, but I use Sea-Hawk Outboard Primer because I'm in Saltwater and then an anti-fouling on the leg/lower unit, any type
automotive engine paint on the head/cowling. Buy your paint at the same place if you go with two different types so that you know it's
compatible (primer + top coat)

I'm pretty sure you can buy this right here at iboats, or search Jamestown Distributors.

nymarine.ca has an excellent selection of paint.
