Johnson Model V4AL-20A, what year?

The Chart tells that a v4a-20 is a 1968 motor. But what of the L and ending A in the model number V4AL-20A? It is an extended or Long lower unit. Thanks

L means long shaft (20"). Ignore that last A. It may mean nothing at all or it may indicate a mid-year change in some part----IF there even was a change. If that is the case, it is only important if you happen to be ordering that part. The parts book will indicate it.
