I have a pair of outboard motors, a Johnson 30 and an Evinrude 35. Both are similar in size and year model, both mid 90 models. I am wondering if the powerhead from the E35 will swap onto the lower end of the J30?

I will bolt right on, as long as both are two strokes, two cylinders. ( there are tripple 35 loopers too )

jimmbo is right, there might be a slight difference, but both will fit into midsection. If you want to be sure to keep the 35 HP stick to the exhaust tube from the 35. You have to replace the base gasket and therefore have to get the tube off the powerhead. Be sure to tighten the small bolts properly and use a little locktite on threads.
