Guy dropped off a boat for me to look at and try to make run. Old Electric Seahorse 40 hp, can't find the year on any of my normal web sites. Anyone know what year a 40 hp model number RXL114 was build?

I just took a quick look and I think the models were RD or RK and no RX. And there are only 2 numbers at the end ranging from 22 to 30. An example would be RKL-24.

If it is a RX it may be a 33hp?

You got too many numbers

RXL-11 is a 1963 28hp
RXL-14 is a 1966 33hp


RK-xx models are 40hp Electramatic Shift motors

Go back and look again.

I should have looked at the tag with my reading glasses on. It's actually a 28hp. Model number is actually RXL-11A. Hard to tell with all the scratches and fading. Looks like it's a 1963

Yep. Ignore the "A" unless you happen to be looking for a part that had a mid-year change. The letter identifies the change IF there was a change.
