Johnson 1999 90 High end miss question

Hi, I read many posts before asking a question and do have a manual but still have a couple q's. I have a slight high RPM miss. Seems to make a little chatter as well. Runs great mid to idle. Just seafoamed it and running it off tank with some in it. As suggested in other posts I will check:

High speed jet and clear it with wire
Link and Sync
Check cyl spark with timing light.

Questions still:
1. How do you check spark with timing light at speed? Specifically.
2. Can you run an outboard like this in a tank or with good muffs at high RPM for testing?

no you can't high speed test on muffs, and it would take a test prop and big tank.

connect timing light before starting. then have a driver.
