johnson 1980 tilt/trim clicking

have 1980 Johnson 200 hp and the up down button clicks when pushed. no sound when down is hit. nothing happens at pump

sounds electrical, check to see it you have power coming from the solenoids/relay box to the motor if so , then i'd suspect it to be a motor isue.

Low battery, or as fishfeatures mentioned, possibly the solenoid. If your PTT unit is the original with a 3 wire motor, you only have 1 solenoid. You said that there is no sound when DOWN is hit. Not sure if you meant no clicking, or nothing, as in the trim motor doesn't operate. If the problem is your solenoid, the DOWN operation will not be affected. Start by jumping the terminals on the solenoid.

Thanks guys, problem is in the electric motor, is single solenoid and is working most times however the solenoid clicks sometimes and have to hit down to get the motor in the mood. Guese the electric motor needs a look at
