Not surprised at all. Shows how our airports still lack proper security. What if this would have been a serious security breach where people could have been harmed. Another case of being reactive instead of proactive......

I grew up boating not far from there but a long time ago (as a teen) prior to fences and "high security".

We would routinely beach our boats to see the jets take off and land directly above us.

The guys sole mistake was not waiting for security to drive by and ask for assistance........he was frustrated and impatient.

There used to be excellent crabbing in that area during the late 60's.

Sounds like if he waited there he would be there for quite a while:eek: I would have walked to get assistance from someone as well as opposed to sitting around on my thumbs waiting for someone to stumble over me.

His only mistake was climbing over a fence topped with "barbed wire"...Doesn't barbed wire on top of a fence tell you maybe someone doesn't want you going in that area.

Do you think he would have climbed the fence if it were a maximum security prison on the other side?(well maybe.... if it were a women's prison:facepalm:)
He used poor judgment. I don't think he should get locked up or made a hero for it but should get disciplined in some manner.
I just hope Raytheon isn't in the prison security business.

Yeah, I think my title referred to that ^^^^^ I think it is safe to say, especially in New York  that climbing over a barbed wire fence, enclosing an Airport, that I am guessing had signs hanging all over it, was a little less than brilliant ;)

:D+1
I agree he probably has brain damage, but I suspect it happened long before the jet ski:D.

He got arrested for climbing the fence, IMHO. I don't know why he didn't follow the fence, instead of scaling it, though that was one stupid mistake. I usually say things like this do nothing for a good citizen, they are only meant to keep bad people out. Though I do have to admit I forgot about the other type of person, the stupid person. Walking across a runway was also pretty stupid, he could of got killed or worst suck up into a turbo fan and caused a crash. Avoiding a large plane might be easy, but the force that one of those jet engines generates can send someone flying.

Additionally, the TSA is pretty bad for not testing their security. It would be a fun job to work for TSA and try to find holes in there system. This $100 million security system seems as effective as the Maginot Line and just as expensive.

If I was cold and wet and tired, I would of done the same. PS... There are some excellent striped bass taken under the radar pier at the end of that runway in restricted water. Don't ask how I know....

Maybe he should hire himself out as a security analyst.

... might not be a bad idea to send the TSA, Homeland Security and Airport Police an invoice for security testing based on a marine assault. With all the red tape involved, he might actually get one of them to pay it.
