I recently bought a 1981 Ski Supreme with a 351Windsor Inboard engine.
Took the boat out a few times and all of a sudden I was taking in ALOT of water.
JUST got the boat on the trailer before disaster struck and found out that the hose that attaches to the shaft log lost its hose clamp (snapped)
when looking at how to reattach the hose clamp I have noticed that the shaft log has taken some abuse over the last 30 years...
someone must have damaged it at one point and used resin to build up an area to mount to. It doesn't look TOO bad from the top, however there is just no room on the bottom to fit a hose before the hose hits the floor of the boat. im thinking about doing an autopsy to find out how thick the resin is that has been piled on. my first thought is to carefully dremmel down the resin snout to a more uniform shaft instead of a belled edge.
but option two would be to cut the entire log out and find some sort of replacement to fiberglass back in, one that actually has a long metal mounting point for the drive-shaft seal hose...
any ideas??
