Hello there -

I have a 1988 StarCraft boat that sat for some years in a farmers barn. This is a split seat - no console that I would like to have the floor replaced and a casting deck etc. From what I have read here - the seats must be removed and they are riveted to the boat... I am mechanically challenged and would be will to pay to get some of this done!

Any Help?

What size rivets did they use? or should I buy?

The floor is spongy 1/2 also riveted in place not sure of the structure underneath...

Scott in Central Ohio (Columbus - New Albany Area)

Thanks!

Unfortunately, most of us hanging around the dry dock working on boats are DIY'ers & working on our boats because we choose too, and probably wouldn't want (or be able to afford) a new boat.

But you never know, someone might know someone that'd be willing to do some work to your boat. Tread carefully though, directly offering to pay someone here to do the work or someone offering to work on your rig and be paid is against the forum's rules we all agree to when we join.

There is a HUGE Starcraft crew here:

Post up some pix of your new rig.

I don't know of anyone, and it's hard to spend your money anymore without begging people. I would suggest a custom shop. I had a buddy with a street rod shop in Oregon and he could do ANYTHING. In one stall had a $300,000 '55 chevy, the other one had a mobile hot dog truck build.

A good Custom guy doesn't need to have worked on 30 Starcrafts to do one better than a person... who worked on 30 Starcrafts. They'll have a decent shop rate most of the time, and the guys will be enthusiastic about getting something new and different. Just a suggestion.

Hey, why not have these tin guys walk you through it, or just junk the whole idea and sell me the boat :)

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard Scott,.... Yer dangerously close to violatin' the forum rules,...

Solicitation ain't allowed in any form on the open forum,...
What goes on in pm's stays in those pm's,...

Bein' a Diy site, We're more than happy to tell ya how it's done, 'n where to possibly find help,...

I'm thinkin' ya need 3/16" closed end pop rivets for the seats, 'n stuff,...(anywhere water is on the other side)

Regular 3/16" long reach rivets are good for replacin' the plywood deck,...
