As much as I used to like JGR, I was disheartened when they moved to Toyota, causing me to route against Tony this year. Glad he will be back in the seat of a Chevy next year! Might take a while to get that team to seriously compete ... but in the long term I think it should be a good move for NASCAR. What do y'all think?

The timing is a bit bad with GM being on the broke side and they allready have a full house of top GM teams

So time will tell but it was a once in a lifetime chance

It was a good move on Ts part.
Now he has another team to go along with the ones he has now plus his 3 tracks.

I am wondering about Haas himself though. Tony has done well with ownership elsewhere, but his new partner is a convicted felon and has also fielded terrible teams. I had waaaaay too much experience with them when Ward was in the Net Zero POS. Somehow they could buy complete Hendrick chassis and screw 'em up. Still do . . . I am sure Tony can help with the technical side and the resource side, but can he successfully reinvent that entire organization? I don't know. I only hope he can become even crankier as an owner/driver so we can see him shove another female photographer and show his true colors. Kyle is too good to hate that much and we still don't have a decent Earnhardt Senior replacement . . . And how fast can a copier be anyway?

Edit: I guess Hendrick is a convicted felon too come to think of it . . .

WTH, what's so wrong with Toyota? Since following Freddy Lorenzen back in the 60's I've been a Nascar fan. I can even remember jumping the turn three wall at Daytona when I was 17. Damn near tumbled down the banking.
Loved Mark Martin and all the Jack Rousch guys. But since buying my first Hilux in 1971 I've had a fondness for Toyota. Our immediate family owns three Tundras. All you've heard behind the scene is how much Smoke hates driving Toyotas, so let the fool go. Ask Robby Gordon what it's like to own and drive for your own team.
Sometimes you don't know what you've got till it's gone....so seee ya, Tony, and don't go crying when them Chevys can't match that Toyota horsepower.
Kyle Busch is like Tiger Woods. Neither sport would be the same without them. :p

I think its a good move on JGR part to let the red neck go. He doesn't want to be there so he shouldn't be. Let him move over to Chevy, I hope he has good luck with a manufacturer that is losing billions each year. Stewart is a fool to leave a team with the money and resources that Toyota has. :D

Haas is serving 2 years for tax evation. I worry about the integrity of the team and why Tony would associate with a criminal.

I dont know if its a good move or not. But it will be more difficult without Zippi.

Good post Windykid. All these drivers have to have alot of talent by the time they get to Sprint Cup. I think a lot of Tony's success has to do with the orginization he has raced with. And Greg Zippadelli has been that cool calm collected voice Tony hears in his earpiece.

Yea, sorry to see that Zippy didn't go also ... Tony has a big hole to climb out of ... Jr. made some very positive comments about Haas racing and their ability to test and give good feedback on set-ups and engines. Will see how things shake out next season. And what about Riggs? Will he stay or be forced out? If he goes, will Truex or Newman drive for Stewart-Hass Racing? Yep, gonna be an interesting end of this season and off season.

I'm surprised that he'd leave Joe Gibbs. That is one incredible operation they have. I got a private tour of the shop a couple yeas ago and it was incredible.

It's not leaving Toyota for Chevy that will make any difference. Toyota couldn't do anything in cup before the Gibbs operation grabbed ahold. Besides Chevy is still the winningest (that a word?) manufacturer.

Sure don't know about Haas though.

I'm working on what was gonna be Mike Curbs museum in Daytona right now turns out he's buying a bigger building. The 24" polished porcelain floor is coming out awesome though.
