Re: Is my trailer adjusted right?

If you look at post #1 and the first 3 pics you can see what i mean. I have only been in boating about 7 years, but it just did not look right to me. If you give me that guys e-mail i can email him the pics, unless he has access to this thread.

I found a 10" roller laying around. Should i mount it on a bracket like this just for the hell of it?

The roller can be mounted there if you want, but when loading the boat, the boat should be fine because your bunks hold the boat up and position it so the likely hood of it ever being able to hit that front plate is limited. If you feel like spending the money, have a v'd crossmember installed with a forward keel roller similar to the one posted in the pic. Again, this will just help guide the boat straight to the front bow pad/v roller.

Like I said in an earlier post, ideally you want the bow roller above the bow eye, but because your winch post is not angled at all, it binds the cable if run this way, thats why a strap from bow eye to trailer is a plus. Good luck

That's your best setup yet, IMO.

That's what i was hoping to hear. I found a pair of hidden holes on the inside of the post that allowed me to angle the roller up so i could run the strap under it. I just wish the roller had more contact with the bow, but it does not move when strapped. You guys think the roller with wings below would be a better fit?

Thats perfect
is the bow still light or did you have to move the boat forward?

The roller is what Wesco said to use.
Are you able to get brackets?
If not I can go down to Wesco and get them for you
You will also need a pin and 2 caps

That roller looks like it will just pop on the current mount i have with the same bolt wand washers, no? If you are talking about the keel roller on my diamond plate, i think i am going to mount my spare tire there and lay it flat so just the rubber sticks out in case i catch a wave it will hit the rubber tire and not the steel. How's that sound?

Happy to hear you found those other bolt locations. The tire will work great there. Happy boating. :)

Re: Is my trailer adjusted right?

I just checked my tongue weight and it was 8%. I am considering cutting my tongue back since it is very long. That would give me 9%. Any thoughts?

The longer tongue does two thing you will like. Easier to control when your backing up, and keeps your truck out of the water at the ramp.
With the spare tire mounted under the bow stop, a full tank of fuel, and all the gear stored in the bow your going to be around the 10% tongue weight your looking for.
Always load the boat and trailer the way your going to tow it and then check your tongue and total weight.

I had the boat loaded the way i would be towing, with the exception of the spare tire. I also thought about the long tongue for the reasons you stated. I only thought about the shorter tongue for more weight and easier turning.

Re: Is my trailer adjusted right?

I would not cut the the trailer for 1% . How does trailer and boat go down the road at 60 mph and above?.
Did you measure the weight at the coupler? @ 18/19 inches?

Re: Is my trailer adjusted right?

With the boat situated on the trailer, you adjust the tongue weight by moving the axle.

Jack up the trailer frame so the tires are off the ground.

Loosen the 4 nuts on the hangers, and slide the axle 3 or 4 inches, tighten the nuts. Done.

Yes on the measurements. It ran fine at 60mph, but i have not had it above that yet. I was concerned when i heard light tongue weight makes your tranny work harder.

I will look into this. Do you use 2 jacks or 1?

I also notice if my bow strap is loose and i bounce gently on my swim platform that the bow bounces enough to come off the roller and hit it on the way down. I do not know if that is normal or not.
