Newbie to this site, Thanks in advance. Hope i'm posting in the right place,I have a 1987 Bass tracker TX-17 it hasn't being inthe water since 1993,it has been setting outside all this time and has taken it's toll, When i parked it the power trim would not work so i know i will have to look at that.I guess i need to know were to start first on rebuilding it. Do you think the motor is shot just by setting so long The transom is rotton and will need to be replace also, just wondering if anyone has replaced a transom in a tx-17 bass tracker before. I know it will be a big job to repair and i have alot of time now,Thanks for any help in pointing me in the right direction, James

Re: Is it worth fixing

If it's a 2 stroke motor, which I assume it is, it may be just fine. Take the spark plugs out and buy some deep creep and spray the heck out of the cylinders and let it sit overnight...that should help free it up if the rings are locked against the cylinder walls due to corrosion.

The transom shouldn't be any harder than anyone else here is tacking or has tackled. I'm sure someone has done a similar type of hull that can lend you some advice. A picture of your boat will help people with similar hulls give advice.

HI carefree5656 and welcome , you sure come to the right spot , I agree with red someone on here has to have done one like yours, I just got done with a 15,4 glastron tru-hull, man still cant belive how much it made a difference it her !!
one of the frist things you need to do is get your wood drying, it will take a month, you can speed it up a little if you get a fan on it 24/7 !!
I didnt see where your from if your on the east side of the nation us composites has some of the best prices !!
Are you going to use poly or epoxy ??
Ok thats just a few thing to get thinking on , and the guys and gals on here really do love pics if you can get them posted !!
Ok well again welcome !!!!! John
