I like how he has straps from the transom to the clips for the battery bag holder. Great idea to stop the motor from pulling the back of the boat down.

Also, his mount is bent in a bit, and he has the board inside. I wonder if he has done anything to make the bottom of his boat different.

Re: Intex Mariner 4 modifications and Tips

So does anyone have suggestions on something like a cleat that you can put on the M4 to hook an anchor to? I was out last weekend and noticed that the win made me drift fairly quickly from my original spot, and it would be nice to "stay put" for a little bit while out fishing.

Preferrably looking for something I could buy in the store and don't have to order online, simply so I could get it by Saturday morning :)

Just showing you what i got....that board is zip tied to my motor mount and i actually now have a cleat attached to that and it works super well. The cleat i got from Lowe's for less than $2. I would think you could possibly even just zip tie a cleat to the motor mount itself?

Ah thanks for the idea, I like that one actually! I did see a plastic cleat at WalMart last time I was there so I may look into getting one tomorrow at lunch then seeing if I can just connect it to the motor mount. I never would have even thought about mounting a cleat to the motor mount. I'll take a look at the motor mount tonight too and see if it looks like there is a good place to mount it to on one of the sides of it.

Awesome suggestion, thanks!

EDIT:

This was the one I saw at WalMart

http://www.walmart.com/ip/Attwood-6-1-2-Nylon-Cleat/16350977

And searching Lowest, I saw this one.

http://www.lowes.com/pd_311988-1277...t=cleat&pl=1&currentURL=?Ntt=cleat&facetInfo=

Is that the one you have? I see it has the holes that a ziptie could go right through. They do have it in stock at my local lowes too. Is that one sufficient enough for a somewhat thick anchor rope? I can't tell how much it "bends" upwards from just looking at the pic.

Question for you guys with a fish finder....is it better to have your transducer mounted up at the front of the boat or should it be towards the back end where I'm sitting? I can think of a couple reasons for both but how do you have yours and for what reason?? I'm about to make a couple beefy mods to my current set that includes moving the electronics out of the middle of the boat and towards the back on a larger deck. Thanks for any input!

Buy a good 3.5. Remember a good 3.5 can for 30 years with proper care. A good 3.5 shouldn't cost more then 400 unless its eBay and u got a seller bidding on his own shyt.

I mounted mine to the bottom of the motor as the directions recommend. Now I had mixed results with it last weekend, so I'm going to see if when I take it out tomorrow it works better. I have yet to look at the manual to trouble shoot it but I'm going to check that out tonight. Basically the depth readings were way off for me, but I remember the manual talking about how if when you turn it on for the first time that if the depth is wrong, there were some steps to do to fix the calibration. However I did not have the manual with me out on the water, so I couldn't fix it while out there last weekend.

S.S. Pool Toys version 2

S.S. Pool Toys version 2

Ok, after thinking on it for a few days, I have come up with this:

1. I am going to bow mount my 17# Minn Kota. The head is reversible, so I can just "clock" it ( So the prop is pointing the other way ). Because this thing is so small and wont pull very hard, I bet I can rig something up implementing the 58lb battery to stabilize whatever mount I build coming off the front of the boat.
2. I can then use the existing motor mount to put a small Gas motor on the back. Then I would have the best of both worlds.
3. Time for a bimini top like Mrdr made, that is in the near future too.
4. I am going to replace the main "captains" chair with a bass boat style chair like the rest of you are all using. The GF prefers to use no chair at all, she likes to lay out or sit on the floor, so I will keep a camping chair folded up on deck and out of the way.

I am going to keep the same color theme red, black, grey. I am not normally concerned with aesthetics, but I like this boat and I want it to look cool too, so that is a factor in all of this as well.

Mostly putting this here as a list for myself to keep me on track, but suggestions and comments are welcome.

No real suggestions, just keep the pics coming! How do you plan on mounting the new seat? It really does open up a lot of room underneath your feet!

Went to Wal*mart and got:
Seat ( grey, perfect )
Tall pedestal ( they have tall and short )
Swivel adapter
Nuts and bolts.
Looks like I will be mounting it the same way that your secondary seat is mounted ( I dont know if your primary is on its own board, or into the floor ).

Wow that looks great! You really are making me think about doing the same thing now since it seems you did that with the normal floor on it. Could you list out a parts list for that exact setup or at least the price of it? You found all of that at Walmart?

Make sure you give it a lean test before heading out on the water or you may get a big surprise!
My seats are bolted right to the full HW floor for that reason. Your centre of gravity is a lot higher with the pedestal seat.
You will love the extra floor space and comfort.

Re: Intex Mariner 4 modifications and Tips

So I just mounted a cleat to my motor mount. I figured I'd share it with you all here in case someone else is wondering how to mount it.

photo 2.jpgphoto 1.jpg

I simply drilled 4 holes in the side of my motor mount and used 4 zip ties to tie it down. It has a little wiggle to it, but not much at all, and the zip ties should hold it down nicely so I'm not too worried about it. It is a cleat I snagged at walmart yesterday for $4.

I'm going to test it out in a few hours so I'll report back how it actually holds, if it holds :p.

It wont fit in your car, lol.
It wont fit in mine, either. It will fit in my GF's car, though.
I already had the wood cut and carpeted, that was how I was able to sit in the lawn chairs and not fall in the slats. Anyways, I bought the pedestal for 16, the swivel for 10 the seat for 35, and then some nuts and bolts and washers. Ill send a pic of the reciept, you can look at the part list.

Comfy thinks I might fall out, as he mentioned above. I also saw that someone had fallen in at one time, but I think it was someone else... anyways, you have the same setup I have, with the 2x2 peice of wood and a pedastal mount, does yours ever fall over? I also have my 60lb battery on the floor to give me some added weight. I like swimming, but only when I am expecting it!
