Nice pics comfy68. Do you have the plans that you used specifically for your floor by any chance? I'm still trying to gather as much information as I can about the floor mods before I decide if I want to do it or not.

Indeed it is! I should have the folding seats mounted later in the week. I was considering purchasing some bell pedestals but don't like the idea of them always protruding from the floor, even without seat's attached. I've been researching different ways of mounting them that would not require any cutting of the floor or bolting lakeside. Perhaps I can rig up some sort of quick release bracket for the economy pedestals that Attwood and Wise sell.

Re: Intex Mariner 4 modifications and Tips

I basically traced the slated floor onto a 5/8" sanded plywood sheet. I cut that into two 4' pieces and used a 1' bow piece that I had laying around. After quickly sanding to remove splinters I test fitted and recut little bits at a time to make sure it wasn't to tight on the edges when inflated. I wanted to make sure I could instal the new floor with the two larger pieces attached with hinged together (I plan on hinging the bow piece as well). The carpet is one piece so it has a clean look (glued with spray adhesive and held tight with the foam pipe insulation. I'm thinking of using some sort of rubber material in the future). The table was great! lined with leftover carpet it keeps my music dry and is a good place for drinks and tying your line. I made a hole in the floor over the keel inflation access point that I will cover up with a PVC hole cover from a marine store.

Ah okay cool.

Another question.

Does anyone know of any paint that will dry properly on this boat? The spray paint that I screwed up with my registration number is not dry 100%. So it looks like crap, and also if I rub my finger on it, it's still rubbing black paint off and it's been almost a week.

I'm thinking of just painting the whole area gray over it, and once that dries, stenciling the number on with a sharpie. I'm just not sure exactly what kind of paint I can use to be sure it dries 100%.

I need to fix this "wet" paint because when I fold this up and what not, I don't want it rubbing black paint all over the place, or getting on my hand if I touch it.

Christian, i really like your setup man, using those chairs i didn't even think about it. How well does that umbrella work if the wind picks up on the water?

Bro, that particular umbrella acts like a sail if I am not careful. Sometimes I even use it like one ( for fun ). If the wind picks up, it pulls me across the water. It is not a flimsy umbrella that turns itself inside out in the wind. It was a gift from a friend of mine, who only buys the best, I think its probably an expensive one. I am going to see what brand it is and try and find another one for my passenger(s), cause my "spare" is a little black one from the dollar store and its not so good haha!

Glad to see that ChristianMariner is sea worthy again.

I wonder if one could cut some thin boards to put between the slats in the floor that came with the boat. It'd be nice to find some similar plastic material.

I found a good mariner video page but my data plan is low.

I wondered about that too, but upon inspection, I realized that plywood wouldn't be thick enough, you would have to use 2x4 or something similar to get the same height as the hollow plastic. In the end it seemed like it would add a lot of weight, but not much stability. Since my desire was just to have a smooth floor ,I concluded that plywood over the top was best for me ( and since I have even chopped that down to size so its only in use in the chair area ).

Re: Intex Mariner 4 modifications and Tips

Finally got out on the M4 the last two weekends for a camping trip and a fun day fishing with my son.
The hard wood floor was sweet! First trip was stock with the Minn Kota motor and power centre, while the second was with the floor and table. Wow what a difference!! Rock solid!! The carpeted floor was really nice:) Still waiting on my seats to arrive. Up in the air as to how to mount the seats to the floor. It's a toss up over a pedestal or the portable seat stand that I would be able to put in and take out with ease. Ill post what ai end up doing when I decide.

Lookin' good! and I like that you have that same collapsible dolly that me and Wiemed have, lol.
That last real long picture would be good ion your signature line ;-)

That looks great! How do you like the seat mounts? Those are exactly what I was considering if I can't find a flush mount pedestal system that quick disconnects.

Re: Intex Mariner 4 modifications and Tips

So....its been over a month since I've taken my mariner out, its been sitting in the garage. I check it this morning and it has deflated about halfway. Granted its been a month and we do have cool evenings here. Anything to worry about? When i put it in the garage i do release some if the air but it still holds its shape.

I had mine inflated in my garage for 2 weeks and deflated it last night to pack it up. I also noticed that it wasn't quite as inflated as it was 2 weeks ago. It wasn't half way but it was definitely less inflated than when I had inflated it. However all chambers seemed to be the same so I figured this is just what happens to inflatables if you let them sit. Kind of like how we need to put air in our tires for our cars every now and then, and like with basketballs and what not.

I'm no expert, but I wouldn't worry about it.
