20 minutes is good, especially for a boat like yours with all the bells and whistles.
How do you get it to the water?

I'm very lucky. All the lakes I have taken it to so far have had some space beside the launch where I can unload and assemble my set-up. Put-together and break-down times were a major consideration with my design.

Re: Intex Mariner 4 modifications and Tips

I have a 98 Mustang Convertible. This is a very small car that has a back seat best suited for 2 small people at most, and because it is convertible it has half the trunk space of a regular car. I had the wood cut into 3 equal parts at home depot and took it home in the car that way, I am hopeful that it will fit with the rest of my stuff. At the worst case, I can ride with the top down and gear sticking up higher than the roof would be, haha. ]
As for plans, I just traced the outline of the roll up floor, and shaved off about an inch ( accidentally ) from the sides. The wood I got was 4'x8' so it is a little too short anyways, by about 4 inches. I hope this works at those measurements. I put some water sealer on it, and plan to staple gun the indoor/outdoor carpet to the wood after checking to see if it fits. I am keeping the 3 pieces separate from each other I think ( I am undecided about this so far ).

Cool thanks for the reply. I may look into messing with the floor this weekend possibly on Sunday if I go out on Saturday. Or hell maybe even on Friday evening if I have time I could run to HD and have them cut the wood, then do the cut out like you mentioned. I was thinking going with the cheapest 1/2" thick plywood they had. I'll definitely take some measurements before I do that though to see if it's realistic to fit in my trunk even.

I have a G37S and the trunk space is pretty small, and it is not convertible so I don't have the luxury that you do as far as putting the top down and having things just stick out :)

Wow g37!! Your not fitting anything in that car. I would love to see just the boat, battery and a trolled in there. Then u got the cooler, rods and other stuff. I wish you best of luck with the floor boards and please take pics of how you fit everything

I did the cheapest 1/2" too, it was about $18. However, I am unclear if the cut out I did ( trace the stock floor ) is going to work or not. I wont know until I get home to test fit it tonight ( it was still drying from the water proofing wood armor I put on it last night ).
Maybe one of these others started that way and then had to make changes. Does anyone here know if tracing the stock floor will give a good base? Is there complications I do not forsee? I plan on running the new floor without the stock floor ( not both at the same time ). Thanks!

I haven't fit it in there yet, but I will be doing it before this weekend and I'm hoping it fits in lol. I'm pretty sure it will though pretty easily. I can put the flooring in my trunk and probably the motor too. My fishing rod can be broken down and my tackle box and battery can fit on the floor in my front seat. Then I can toss the boat on the front seat or in the back seat I think. I plan on putting the boat in the bag that it came in, alone by itself so that I can carry it somewhat easily.

I plan on getting something else like a milk carton or something to carry my anchor, fish finder, and other little things in as well. I don't keep my fish I throw them back so I don't need a cooler. Although I might get a small one for drinks because my water was warm as hell after being out on the water for 4 hours last week lol.

I also found out today that the lake near me has warnings on it due to some blue-green toxins in the water. We're allowed to fish still but they just say to be careful about ingesting the water and to wash hands well afterwards.

Do not even go near that lake. Better safe then sorry. Drive to the next town lake

Yeah I was considering that honestly. I thought last weekend there seemed to be quite a bit of algae on the lake and it looked just a little odd.

LOL I get it :p

So I've been doing some google searching and had no luck - how do you guys mount a cleat or something to secure your anchor to once it's dropped?

Re: Intex Mariner 4 modifications and Tips

setup could take as low as 10 min. The key is don't do everything to fast in the summer or you will be drenched with sweat before you even launch

That's pretty fast. For me if I hurry up, it's around 20 min from the time I parked my car to launch. But I'll be drenched like you said, even if this is like 5:30a. I decided to take my time, even if I want to get out fishing :) Now I give my self 40 minutes, take it slow. It is less chore that way. But honestly, I am getting tire of setting things up and down.

Do I need to fasten my wood floor together? It is in 3 sections, carpted. Can I just lay it in as is ( leaving the stock floor at home ) or will I need to hinge it or bolt it together somehow?

ARGH!
I just now figured out why some of you have made 4 piece floors. Every time Loop_Dad mentioned the tapered floor, I thought he was talking about the way the fake wood pieces are cut at an angle... But now the full realization has come that the ends of the boat ( front and rear ) are angled up! Now, with my floor being totally flat it will fight against the boat.
Well, I bought 4'x8' wood, and 4'x8' carpet. I suppose I will trim the wood about 2 inches shorter so that the carpet will wrap and then I can later add the end pieces if I need... I might not need those end pieces anyways. Kinda wondering if this thing is gonna be all messed up or if it will still work.

I'm not sure how heavy or how important wood floors are for the m4 because I have a zodaic and put it togather and take the floor boards apart is a hassle and a half. Plus wood can damage your boats material if you cut it very tight and to close to the boats material

Re: Intex Mariner 4 modifications and Tips

So tonight I tried to paint on my registration numbers with some stencils and spray paint, and it turned out like crap. I did not realize the spray paint would run and not just stick to where it was painted through the stencils. You can still make out some of the letters, but some of them look like garbage. Also, the spray wasn't quite as centered as I thought, and there is a lot of spray that kind of went around the stencils onto the boat. I mean it's not THAT big of a deal since it is a boat and it's okay to look a little worn in :), but does anyone know if terpentine or something will get this paint off so I can do it properly?

And what kind of paint did you guys use who painted it on with stencils? I'm assuming it was not spray paint after my experience with it lol. Did you put it on with a roller or a brush too?

They use a stencil to draw letters in the stencil, then use a sharpie to go over it then fill it in. No idea whats safe to remove the spray paint :-(

Ah okay. Yeah I shouldn't have jumped into this I guess and read a little bit more :(

I wonder if it is the material of the boat that made it drip and the paint just not set properly on it. Oh well lesson learned! I will make sure the other side is done right!

Hi guys,

I'm another M4 Cadet here. Does any of you use this on your M4? it's for keeping your inflatable cleaning and UV protected to last long.

Re: Intex Mariner 4 modifications and Tips

I was googling a bit today and I think I'm going to see if warm water + soap detergent will get it off. If that doesn't work, then I'm going to try some of my wife's nail polish.

If neither works, I will just have 1 ghetto side of a boat lol.

I was going to take it out tomorrow but they are calling for rain around noon, and my normal lake is infected with algae stuff, so I may just drive down to a river and go fishing from the shore instead of taking the boat out, so I'm not in a huge hurry right now.

Although I'd like to get it out this weekend since I have a fish finder now!

Here is the lake I normally go to, and you can see the warning at the top of the page there.
