Intex Mariner 4 - Certificate of Origin and first assignment question

I bought the Mariner 4 from Home Depot. The Intex website has a printable Certificate of Origin which I have already printed out. My question is with the first assignment. I was under impression that Intex would assign the boat to me but when I called them, they said that the first assignment has to be done by Home Depot as the seller of the new boat. Is that correct?

Anybody has any experience with this matter? Not sure where to go at the Home Depot because I am assuming when I show up at the customer service desk, they won't really know what to do.

I would contact HD Corporate, not a store service desk that never saw a boat pass through the doors. Home Depot isn't the first place that comes to mind when buying boats.

I bought my Seahawk from Amazon. I did not even file that part of the MSO with the NY DMV and they accepted it.

However with Home Depot, they sell trailers and know how to fill out the MSOs for them. I just bought one from them and it was done in Customer service

I have the same predicament. I ordered from Amazon and only thing I have for proof of ownership is the invoice showing Hin, Win, Model nr. I have not been to DMV yet, but really do not expect any trouble. Next will be affixing CF number. I really do not cherish the idea of painting on the PVC and would much rather use a hanging placard. We will see...lot of hassle just for a trolling motor addition.

Sharpie, and just touch it up if needed

come to think of it, I do not recall seeing any photos of inflatable kayaks with the lettering stenciled in. I did see a mariner on ebay though that had large letters painted on or it may have been a zodiac.

An update: I went to Home Depot (pretty much a year after I bought the boat) and asked if they can sign the printed Certificate of Origin. The customer service lady was actually surprised that they sell boats. I have explained that the process is pretty much the same as when they sell trailers. She called for assistant store manager who just signed the paper. I haven't been to the MVC yet but looks like I have all the paperwork needed.

As to the numbers, I bought stencils and will use sharpie method once I have the number.
