I removed the port side cabinet from the cabin of my Robalo 2660. I need to rebuild but would like to use a lightweight waterproof material. The old one is 1/2 inch plywood with thin formica. Any suggestions?

You can use Starboard which is a plastic board that can be cut like wood. You can use wood and saturate it with epoxy for waterproofing. You can make a mold and make it out of fiberglass. Or you can cold mold it with thin veneers of epoxy saturated wood.

I vote for wood saturated with epoxy.

Depending on the size/shape of your hull, you might want to put back a cabinet with similar weight or your boat might list to port. Just a thought ...

I was leaning toward saturated wood, and yes I do have to consider weight. Hull is 26 feet long with an 8'6" beam.
