Welcome to iboats BassMaster. It is a fairly simple procedure.

However, a factory OEM Service Manual is what you need. Check ebay or Outboardbooks.com for a factory reprint.

there are numerous post including mine if the shaft doesnt stick
and you take all the bolts out without breaking any its fairly easy
search lower units and you will find everything you need .
but a factory manual , is worth every penny .
the etecs do not fit the older 150s i wish they did but the cost of a new etec
lower would cost more than a couple of old 150s
good luck bennyb

referring to the diagram from the link posted here, "http://www.crowleymarine.com/brp_parts/diagrams/38555.cfm"

You will first need to screw in the 4 bolts, (2 port 2 starboard), identified as #72. Then there will be 1 large bolt, #70, just forward of the trim tab. Another bolt, #80, beneath the trim tab, with the trim tab getting installed on top of that, #60 and #65. If the trim tab was not marked, you may need to adjust this. The shift rod also needs to get installed, #57.

Before doing this, you may want to change the water pump, grease the splines of the drive shaft, flush the cooling system, and clean out the water intake.
