impellor swap. How do I drop the lower half?

I have the lower half of my 94 johnson 225 dropped about 2 inches and I can not figure out how to lower it the rest of the way so that I can change the impellor. Please help

did you disconnect the shift linkage under the carb?

no i did not. Do I disconnect that under the motor? It looks like the shaft has a curve in it. Will it still slide down?

Once you get the shift rod disconnected she will drop. The following may help. I would highly reccomend you get yourself a Service Manual, trust me, it WILL pay for itself a million times over.
