impeller problems

Hello guys.
I'm replacing the impeller on a 1983 mercruiser i/o 120hp 2.5 liter. I'm foloowing the step by step instructions. I am at #14 lift the impeller up off the shaft. Problem in the impeller will not budge. There is a lot of melting I'm wondering if the impeller has melted to the shaft. It looks like the upper and lower housing will need replaced too. Any help would be great. Thank you.

With melting taking place you will have to change the housings for sure. Even if they look good they will be distorted. Your manual has a procedure for splitting the impeller with a chisel but extreme caution must be taken so you dont damage the shaft.

Thanks for the advice. I just took it in to get done. I'll try again next season.
