Ignition Woes

I have a 1966 Merc 500. Iekhaefer Mercury. I have inherited it from an uncle. It has been sitting in a garage for past 15 years. I brought it home got it to turn over but had no spark. So with help from someone that knows a little about boat motors we took apart the distributer and cleaned the points, put it back together and now have a really weak spark. I plan on buying new points. Is there anything else i should be looking at as well? Any input would be helpful because when it comes to boat motors my experience is extremly limited. Because of the time the engine has set I would also replace the condenser, remember the points are set at .011 and the tan and white caps and rotors are the best (red and green are junk) if you choose to clean the cap and rotor I prefer hot water and dish soap, rinsed well and either blown dry or set overnite.

What condition is the coil in ( is this a four cyl with the KD4 magneto?) make sure you have a ground strap going from mag. frame to cylinder block.

Thanks for all the info as soon as the weather breaks here in Pa it will be time to hopefully get this thing running and on the water
