Green wires that go from the switchbox to the ignition coils (one wire to each cylinder, etc.). 1983 150 V-6 Merc. Mine are crumbling and I accidentally bumped one yesterday and it pretty much schreded. I want to build new ones rather than buy and wait for delivery. Is this a stupid idea? What's the worst thing that could happen? What type of wire is this and where can I find some? Thanks in advance for your help!!

Re: Ignition Wire Harness Assembly???

You need to go to a marine parts supply of any kind cut part of wire or remove it so you can match gauge of wire. They have copper wire that is coated with tin before the insulation. When wire is tinned it is much more resistant to moisture.I myself redid a whole motor. It is sold by the foot and you might want to buy shrink wrap connectors if needed.Forgot to mention try to get same color the place i use has at least 8 to 10 coiors.

Thanks a lot guys. It looked like it might be stainless wire or something, but tin coated copper makes sense.
