According to the weather forecast from this past monday, it was to be 70's and 30% chance of rain. 70's yes with much rain and clouds Friday. I planned to launch my boat for its seasonal stay at the dock.
After work, the sky opened up and off we go to the lake to get the bottom of the boat wet. Launch went well (plug was in
), started engine and got to the dock without any problems. We looked up in the sky and could see that in the west the sky was getting very dark. I told my BIL (bro in law) that I think we can make it back to the house to drop off the trailer and back to the boat before it rains/storms.
I get to the house before it started to rain. With my bucket truck and 36' trailer, I need lots of room to manuver. Of course it is quitting time for folks and the highway in front of my house had heavy traffic. Finally I ended up blocking both lanes of traffic and backing the trailer back along the side of my house. (as in my avatar) All of a sudden this guy on a Harley pulls into the drive. As I'm having some problems getting the angle I needed, this guy is now in my way. Uggg, don't know him, why is he here? Remember, I'm in a hurry to get back to my boat to make sure the tops are up, and the boat is secure for the approaching storm.
Once I got everything parked, he introduced himself. I said sorry, I'm not intrested at this time. Please leave and come back after 3 pm monday thru thrusday. Fridays is not a good time as you can see. I pointed into the sky and said that you better leave or your going to get stuck in the downpour. I can't believe this guy. He pulls out his tape measure and starts to measure for a quote. I say, "Hey! you got to go, I'm in a hurry and as you can see the empty boat trailer, I want to get back to the lake and make sure my boat is secure for the storm. He still preceded to go thru his ritual of obtaining info for a quote.
Finally I took and left him, gathered my things that I needed and headed back out to my van. As I was getting into my van he then again wants to talk. I said, "Sorry, I do not have time for this and your on a bike with a storm that is about to hit any minuet." Okay he says, I'll send the owner out next week to talk to you.
After he said that, he got on his bike and as soon as he got on the highway,,,,,,,,it started downpouring. Serves him right! Luck had it that the storm was north of the lake and not much rain fell there, so the boat was okay.
Come monday,,,,about 6 am, I'm going to call the company and tell them that no way will I have your company do my roof. This is due to the ingornace of the salesperson that stopped by my house without appointment, and even asking him to leave. No respect for my time, No job for them,,,and it doesn't matter if they would be cheaper or not. I just hate pushy people that have no respect.
Going to check to see if they are registered with the county to do work. When I questioned him on it, he didn't seem like he understood what I was asking, so I think that company is not regeistered.
Okay, my rant is over and headed back to the boat to lower the blood pressure and to raise a few 12 ouncers
Life is so much better on a boat
