I ran the number off the mount and it comes back as a 1982 150. But when I look around at other 82s they have a different hood? The vents on front edges of the cowl are something I’m not seeing on other 82 models? Also never owned one with dual pissers. Obviously that may be a mod from previous owner .I don’t know because he passed away and I purchased the boat from his wife .. Does the powerhead have numbers anywhere that I can run and verify it? Thanks AF78BF56-C7D3-4D91-B12F-92CDF8C4734D.jpeg

Those decals look 90s to me. Maybe the hood has been changed? These are 1982 decals.

Yes it’s definitely different. I really wished I knew what has been done. Only info I had was that he purchased the boat new according to her without a motor. And then had this motor put on..He was a tournament fisher . Kept it in the garage . It hasn’t been started in 2 years but had stabil in it. The enricher doesn’t work but I let motor down. Primed the ball, hit the switch and about 8-10 seconds later it fired and idled with no choke and no fast idle. Iv still not lake tested because I want to put a new impeller in it first and fresh fuel .

You have a highly modified motor and you are looking for stock information.

The hood (minus the latches) and it's decals look like my '93 motor.

You look to be missing the lower cowling, which is what latches the hood.

You might remove the hood and post some additional pictures. I would like to see how those telltales are plumbed.

Old motor with new cowling. Bungee cords aftermarket and proberly serve no purpose but for looks. Stock lower with homemade nosecone. Old racing trick on t-stat dual plumb as t-stats are replaced with washers

couple pics of the tale tale mod. Ran the numbers off the powerhead and this is what it came back. So the year 82 is correct apparently. I’m not sure what a “marathon magnum “ but I’m assuming it’s just a standard 150. At least now I know what I have thanks too you guys! Much appreciated. 2983E607-E9D7-40D8-8A94-B1B5866AE5CC.jpeg651F0E3D-3547-4798-867D-CA3097D98E28.png

Ok so from another forum an old school racer says those straps are Called “offshore saddle straps “ and the “lightweight cowl” was also factory on this particular motor.

If that cowling is like what's on my '93, it is far from lightweight. It is solid fiberglass and 40# or so.

Thats not a lightweight cowl..it is stock. The liteweight cowl looks like below pic. You got a plain ole 150 or 175 2Liter with lipstick.....

For the record I wasn’t claiming to have something I didn’t or have some unicorn race motor. I was simply trying to make sense of what I have . I do show car restoration for a living and have for 30 years . I don’t know crap about outboard motors . I was just going off what I was told because of the cuts in the front and because it was xr2 magnum..but as said before was probably changed at some point. Thank you guys for the help. 95C9C7C1-28FE-4D20-8E66-3C620F02449C.jpeg
