Re: Iac

Before I ordered the new part I wanted to take a closer look--lucky I did. I thought there were 2 connections. But there are three- when I touch the third connection the ohms appear to be ok. I had someone change the plugs at the end of the season and the boat was ok. Then when I pulled it out for the season the stalling started. I know a lot is the possible problem but does anyone think maybe he did not gap plugs? As I said the idle is a little rough. I increase it from 600 and until around 1000 rpm it is rough and then smooths out. If I put it in gear it sputters and stalls. Thank you. RR

Re: Iac

I am thinking it might be a plug or wire.. That is what I will be checking next.

Re: Iac

Without getting into measuring or removing the wires I used an ohm meter and all the wires were about the same. When I first started the motor I put a couple of bottles of injector cleaner in. Last night I was able to put motor in gear without it stalling. That was the first time it did not stall although the motor sputtered. Maybe it could be an injector problem? Maybe the cleaner is working? Thanks. RR

When is the last time you did a FULL tune up on the powerplant ?? Plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel filters, clean out the spark arrestor (sp?).
Quite possibly water in tank. Siphon out as much gas as you can, add fresh gas and try it. The injector cleaner you put in, might have gotten some water out of it but there could still be junk in the fuel system.

Plugs end of last year...and again 5/19/2014. Cap and fuel filter beginning of the season. Wires 3 yrs. Stabil gas treatment every winter. As stated earlier it seems to be running a little better. I changed the fuel filter and put gas in a jar and it looked fine. I think I will top off tanks with some detergent gas after I research that. Thank you. RR

Update--- boat is still idling rough and it goes into gear without stalling but it is not right. I took it for a ride and maybe around 2000 rpm it sometimes shuts off. No buzzers, alarms or obvious problems. Turn the key and it starts right back up. I did not think to try to use one battery at a time but all connections look ok. Next weekend I am going to try that after I clean the cables. Any ideas? Thank you. RR
