Re: I think I found one Need help
I/O outboard your choice both have advantages and disadvantages.
When an outboard goes bad it cost you big bucks per horse power if you have to replace the whole outboard.
I bought a new 135hp engine $3000 and a new sei106 outdrive for $1300, so basically I have a brand new engine/outdrive for under $5000. You cant touch a new outboard in the 130hp range for that price. However I do all my own work so no labor costs. This probably makes the difference between an I/O or outboard.
My engine broke a timing gear and the outdrive got water in it and rusted the gears. Lower units on outboard can also get water in it and need water pumps replaced.
