i/o transom repair

I have looked through some search returns, and I still have a couple of questions. I have i/o merc 120 will the engine or the outdrive need to be removed to do a proper transom replacement? That and does this look overkill to anyone else?

Yes sir, I just did mine. Engine and drive will have to be removed along with anything else touching that back wall.

Both of em have gotta go. The transom thickness is dictated by the outdrive maker. There is no such thing as 'overkill' or even 'underkill', as it has to be near exact.
