Thanks! I'll check it out. :joyous:

Sorry man, see correction above............10 cyl = 5 pulses/rev. The tach I found (and deleted in #18) would need to do 12 cyl = 6 pulse/rev.

So my best "work around" other then finding this needle in the hay stack, errrr.......2 stroke 2" 6p/v tach is.....

You use a "inline" divide by 2 circuit on your stator's 6 pulse/rev = 3 pulses/rev, get your(any) 2" 4 stroke tach and set it to 6 cyl which is equal of course to 3 pulses/rev.

This is truly a "converter" btw.............Probably need to make one of course but, easy peasy though...https://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/texas-instruments/CD4013BE/296-2033-5-ND/67245

top of your flywheel on the 50hp has 8 bolts around the perimeter

remove every other bolt, get a bolt that is 1/8" longer and put a washer that is 1/8" thick under them. (make sure the top bracket has clearance

then mount a 12mm prox sensor (NPN sinking) to pick up the 4 bolts that are now raised up. https://www.automationdirect.com/ad...h_duty/stainless_steel_standard_sensing_(12mm)

then use the prox to trigger the tach.

VDO!!.......333-159. Its range appears to be 6-9 pulses/ rev. Should work with your 6 pulses/rev

https://www.vdo-gauges.com/instrumen...l?diameter=294

You'll set dip switches 1-3 to off, off, off, (See diagram "D" [lower half], "pulse-per-rev-type signal")and tweek pot (diagram E) to fine tune it to your 6 p/r.

ignore "4 stroke only"

https://www.vdo-gauges.com/media/ins...0Diameter).pdf

Thanks! I'll be checking more into this one.

A converter like this would work.. https://www.ebay.com/itm/UNIVERSAL-...4-5-6-8-10-cyl-to-any-4-6-8-Tach/141931549970 It can make any signal you need

That converter looks like it could really help! Thanks!

While checking on the info provided by you good folks, I happened upon this one which might be the proverbial needle in a haystack.

It's 12-pole only but has NO instructions.

However, it has 4 wires: red, black, blue and gray.
Positive, negative, light and tach signal from rectifier/regulator? Hmmm... Thinking_Face_Emoji_Tiny2.png

I ordered the Faria-Beede TC9305B tach! :joyous:

I had to jump through a few hoops but finally got a copy of the instruction manual, which was generic and didn't include that tach. However, from those instructions, it looked like it would NOT work. :blue:

So, I ended up calling Faria-Beede this afternoon and the tech there confirmed that the tach WILL work with my engine, so I placed the order right away.

BTW - the FB tech let me know that they haven't produced a 2" tach for 7 years and that as a result, they're rare.

So it's a collector's item too!

When BWR started this thread, the first place I went to GLS. Looked and looked, couldn't anything. Maybe this one was a new addition. :noidea:

Yeah, I searched for days online all over the web and it never showed up. Then, while researching the adapters for automotive tachs, it showed up in an ad on the side of the browser page.

Gotta love (hate?) Google!
