Insurance is requiring me to provide the price I paid for 1997 Evinrude 9.9 with electric start. It was bought by my father new in '97. Please help if you can. I saw a 9.9 Merc listed for $2400.00 on line. Wow! Inflation.

Hurricane Helene dropped a tree on my boat and motor. Insurance is requiring a price that was paid new. No idea since my father bought it in 1997.

In my area a used 1997 9.9 is worth anywhere from $1000 to $1200 with electric start.

All areas will be different though.

I doubt they would give you much. most don't pay current fair market value they simply depreciate the purchase price value down to 0$ after 27 years. !
no harm in trying...
