Hummingbird migration

They're on the move! The last 3 days or so have seen a big influx of Ruby throats around my feeder. I say "around" because they spend more time fighting with each other than actually eating. Those boys do NOT like to share.

Yesterday I had 6 of them swirling around the feeder when one all of a sudden dropped down on the perch and started tanking up. The rest kept fighting and didn't seem to notice him.

My feeder just emptied, that's all they're going to get for this year. Also seeing flocks of geese heading south.

I'm amazed at how aggresive and physical hummingbird fights are sometimes.......they are so small and seemingly fragile.

I am also seeing a few ruby throats and the intense wars they insist on. I usually have a huge swarm about the middle of this month.

This was two years ago on one of six feeders:
